Perhaps enhancing one’s small chin is not as popular procedure done with dermal fillers as, say, lip augmentation, but it’s still a fairly common beauty treatment for facial feature improvement. Chin augmentation is generally done with the same dense fillers which are used for facial oval contouring, and it involves adding volume using Hyluronic acid gel or other similar solution, to volumize the contour in the chin area, making it more pronounced and well contoured, especially when viewed from the side. Curiously enough, the procedure of chin sculpting is hardly a new one, however, it has really become popular with the rise of dermal fillers, as a convenient and safe method was finally available to the wide public.
Chin enhancement options
While dermal fillers are, perhaps the latest method to shape the chin, there have been options to do so for many decades. In fact, there are four main forms of chin contouring, which are widely used today, two of which are specifically focused on adding volume and more visible curvature:
- Skin fillers – a quick and safe method for instant volumization, dermal fillers are use for enhancements to the chin area are done by applying a dense gel, based on HA, PLLA, PCL or Calcium, into the subcutaneous layer of the skin, in that part of the face. The high molecular weight of the gel, combined with the overall stability of the fill will ensure the result appears completely natural.
- Plastic surgery – the “classic” method of adding visible volume to one’s chin. This involves performing a surgery to place in an implant, into the area, physically pushing the above tissues up. The disadvantages of this form of treatment are clear – invasive, requires downtime, involves certain risks. In addition, facial fillers for chin contour tend to be a substantially cheaper option.
- Threads – lifting and skin threads, are used to contour certain parts of the face, by physically pulling them. In the chin area, threads can pull sagging tissues up and do some minor contouring. Barbed threads, known as cogs, can be used as collagen stimulators to slowly boost the skin volume in the chin area over time.
- Fat dissolvers – while not a “volumizing” solution, products for dissolving fat cells in the face and neck area, are effectively used for chin sculpting, by efficiently and swiftly removing fat deposits and dealing with issues like double chin. In terms of aesthetics, this does add extra contour.
Filler for chin definition
Unsurprisingly, as far as dealing with small and less pronounced chin, fillers are the preferred method by both dermatologists / licensed practitioner and their customers. Results from the usage of cosmetic filler for chin shaping are just as good, if not better than plastic surgery. Dermal fillers allow for real-time control of the whole process, as the filler is applied. Additionally, they are non-permanent, as a rule, and even the so-called semi-permanent solutions like PLLA fillers will eventually completely dissolve. Not to mention the most popular HA based fillers, which can easily be dissolved with a special enzyme called Hyaluronidase.
Safe chin filler procedures
As noted, when compared to plastic surgery, dermal fillers are much safer. A standard procedure for small chin treatment or getting a jawline filler, last a mere 30 minutes. Normally, the adverse reactions are toned down and limited – slight bruising, irritation and redness in the treated area of skin, which generally subside in just 48 to 72 hours. Compared to the invasive surgical augmentation, which was the previous method of treatment (with the mandatory downtime), dermal fillers are just better, period.
Choosing a product
There are many excellent products on the market, which can be prime solutions for overall facial and specifically chin contouring, but the choice could be a bit daunting. Your licensed practitioner will probably have a preferred brand, but there is no problem for you to look into top quality products like Bonetta Filler Volume and Glowing Fill Full, or the more premiums offers – Juvederm Volume and Restylane Defyne, and request they look into possibly used one of them for your procedure.
